Discipline

Disciplined people, disciplined thought, and disciplined actions over an extended period. Jim Collins in "Good to Great".

The above statement is applied to business and I found it in the Six Sigma for Dummies. But can it be applied to the church? Not in a business sense but in terms of discipline. We claim to be "disciples" of Jesus Christ; therefore we submit to His discipline.

But the key to the whole statement is "over an extended period." Peter says "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness." "Run the race with perseverance." James tells us "Draw near to God and he will draw near to you." All this takes discipline - over an extended period. God Bless!

I would have to agree. Disciple comes from discipline. Especially Luke 9:23-37 where Jesus says to take up the cross "daily." Luke wants to emphasize that spiritual discipline in our lives.
